C.F. Martin & Co. Let The New Guitars Out Of Their Cage At Summer NAMM!

At this year’s Summer NAMM show in Nashville, Tennessee, C.F. Martin & Co., known for building world-class acoustic guitars since all the way back in 1833, were showing off some of their new models. While tradition and a commitment to quality are their trademarks, there is no reason Martin can’t be innovative and constantly introduce new products, like their new line of ukuleles, which were featured prominently at their booth.

While ukes are fun and enjoying unprecedented popularity right now, Martin’s guitars are really the meat, providing countless players around the world with great tone and playability.

Sheptone, an American manufacturer of guitar pickups today announces the release of their new line of single coil pickups for Strat-style electric guitars. All pickups are manufactured in the Port Orchard facility and are available immediately. The new models are designed to maintain the tones associated with Strat-style guitars but also expand on the tonal options and eliminate the problems often experienced by musicians over the years.

1961 was a year in which the Soviets put the first man in space, Yuri Gagarin followed by the US in May with Alan Shepard. Construction of the Berlin wall began, the first direct US military involvement in Vietnam occurred and popular music included Chubby Checker’s “Pony Time” and “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” by the Shirelles. However a very different and radical landmark in 1961 wasthe introduction of a guitar way ahead of its years, the first Gibson SG guitar rolled off the production line at the Gibson plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Paul Reed Smith kicked off its 2011 partnership with GRAND-AM Road Racing at the Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona last weekend. At the end of the historic endurance event, the overall win went to the Ganassi team of Pruett, Rojas, Rahal and Hand. Pruett and Rojas took the 2010 championship and are no strangers to PRS guitars as they have scored a total of nine trophy guitars for the Chip Ganassi team.
