PRS Inducted into Vintage Guitar Hall of Fame

By: Staff

PRS Guitars is proud to announce that Paul Reed Smith is now a member of Vintage Guitar magazine’s prestigious Hall of Fame. Every year Vintage Guitar readers and contributors are asked to nominate a distinguished player, instrument, and innovator whose musical contributions have achieved elevated levels of acclaim and respect within the musical community.

Votes were collected via hand-written ballot as well as the magazine’s website, and Paul Reed Smith came out on top in the Innovator category alongside Robert Johnson in the Player category. Past Hall of Fame recipients have included legendary icons such as Leo Fender, Les Paul, and Ted McCarty. PRS’s Custom model electric guitar was inducted in 2004.

“Paul is the first of his generation of guitar builders to be inducted to the Vintage Guitar Hall of Fame,” said publisher Alan Greenwood. “His entry marks a changing of the guard.”

“I was stunned when I heard about this award and felt it was more for everyone involved at PRS, not just for me. What was interesting was that I received the call right in the middle of trying to ship the finals of three new models in time for the 2011 NAMM tradeshow. We were literally in the middle of trying to innovate when I heard the news. It’s been a mind-quieting honor,” said Paul Reed Smith.
