Gene Simmons and KISS know no bounds with their merchandising machine, branding everything from lunchboxes to official KISS caskets, and now they have announced an official KISS cremation urn, so your ashes can spend the rest of eternity in style. According to Bravewords, the urn was designed and released by Eternal Image, Inc., who make specialty memorial products.

SuperHeavy, the aptly-named new supergroup featuring an all-star cast including Mick Jagger, Joss Stone, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Slumdog Millionaire composer A.R. Rahman, and ex-Eurythmics guitarist and producer Dave Stewart, have announced the tracklisting for their debut album, entitled Superheavy.

Veritable metal legends Megadeth have some incredible news for all their fans: their thirteenth studio album will be released via Roadrunner Records on November 1. The album, which will be entitled TH1RT3EN, follows a run of five consecutive Platinum or multi-Platinum certified albums, with 2009’s Endgame being the most recent.

This past weekend, rioters and looters tore through London’s deprived Tottenham district and other areas, firebombing businesses and police cars and looting shops. The chaos has disrupted life for everyone in the area, but it has also taken a huge toll on the music industry in the UK as a whole.

With a festival of this size, and over 100 bands, it’s always surprising to see who stands out and who doesn’t stand up. Having this many bands requires a immense amount of planning on the part of the concert-goers, as there is always a point where you must make a decision and sacrifice. Also, in order to take full advantage of the bill, one should research the smaller bands that spatter the stages in the daytime. That way you can be the guy everyone hates saying, “I knew them back when they were playing a 1:45 slot on the BMI stage.”

Lollapalooza’s last day was certainly a slop fest. The place was already muddy at the start of the festivities on Sunday due to an early morning downpour, and after an oppressively hot and sticky afternoon, the skies opened yet again at about 5:30 or so to thoroughly soak and muddify the entirety of Grant Park.

Alaskan psychedelic rockers Portugal. The Man rocked the Sony stage yesterday at Lollapalooza 2011, but in the aftermath, their tour bus was stolen from a guarded parking lot near Grant Park.
