Veritable metal legends Megadeth have some incredible news for all their fans: their thirteenth studio album will be released via Roadrunner Records on November 1. The album, which will be entitled TH1RT3EN, follows a run of five consecutive Platinum or multi-Platinum certified albums, with 2009’s Endgame being the most recent.

The title of TH1RT3EN has multiple significance. Guitarist, singer, and principal songwriter Dave Mustaine, who first started playing guitar when he was 13 years old, recently told Rolling Stone that he was “born on September 13th; this is my thirteenth record. It just seemed like it was the right thing to do to call it TH1RT3EN.”

According to a press release, Mustaine is excited about the new release, saying, “This record is the culmination of my work over the 13 records I recorded. There are moments on TH1RT3EN that capture my every emotion, and other moments where I am releasing feelings I never knew existed!  My proudest moments of my musical career are captured on TH1RT3EN.”

The new album also will be the first Megadeth record since 2002’s Rude Awakening to feature original bassist and founding member Dave Ellefson! To the delight of die-hard fans, Ellefson returned in 2010 to the live stage with Megadeth and seems to be a permanent fixture again.

Currently on the Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival circuit, Megadeth is sharing the stage with Disturbed and Godsmack, and later this summer they are slated to rejoin with the rest of “The Big Four,” Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax, for a giant show at New York’s Yankee Stadium. The four previously played a huge show in SoCal this April.

Stay tuned for more Megadeth info as it becomes available!
