Are Judas Priest really going to perform on the season finale of American Idol tonight? It might seem weird, but the legendary heavy metal band is heavily rumored to get on stage with James Durbin, who was eliminated from the show earlier in May. He is reportedly returning for a performance tonight. Durbin had previously sang a cover of Judas Priest hit “You Got Another Thing Coming” on American Idol, the first time a Priest single has been performed on the big blue stage.

The Darkness, who broke up five years ago due to drug issues and other reasons, have reunited for a couple shows in their home country of England next month, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Frontman Justin Hawkins recently announced that their plans for the Darkness are much bigger.

Hard rock stalwarts Staind have revealed that they will release their next album by the end of the year. The highly-anticipated album will be appropriately entitled Seven, as it will be their seventh studio album, and according to lead guitarist Mike Mushok, it will be much harder than 2008’s Illusion of Progress.

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) launched a Fly-In to the Nation’s Capital during the month of May in order to promote national school programs. Joe Lamond, CEO, NAMM worked with several high ranking officials at the Department of Education for events that both celebrated and worked to reinforce the critical importance music education programs in the Nation’s schools.

Changing his tune from an open revulsion of the homosexual lifestyle, Nugent said that two consenting males can do what they want and that it does not bother him. He continued, “If you’re gay, have a nice day. I couldn’t give a rat’s ass. . . I’m repulsed at the concept of man-on-man sex. I think it’s against nature. I think it’s strange as hell, but if that’s what you are — I love ya. . . I’m not going to judge another’s morals. I say live and let live. I have friends that are gay.”
