The “For Dummies” series has been around for as long as I can remember, and while I know a few people who got a lot out of their books in the information technology field, I never had any personal experience with them before I picked up guitar playing. Like a lot of people, I was slightly put off by the title, and even more so by the idea of toting the book around with the only-too-recognizable “For Dummies” on the cover, but out of curiosity and my liking for simplicity, I invested in Rock Guitar for Dummies.

Pawn shops have long had negative associations as quick-money depots that sell items of little value. While any business can have a dark side, pawn shops don’t have to be disreputable. They can be a great place to find high-value items like women’s and men’s rings, antiques, and other items, and buyers can capitalize on deals that might not be found elsewhere. The fact of the matter is that times are tough for many people, and pawn shops can be a go-to source for those who might not have the funds to purchase new merchandise, such as the budding musician who is looking to purchase his/her first guitar. Here are some suggestions for getting the best deal possible when shopping for a guitar at a pawn shop.

Experience PRS is a special event. Not only is it one of the guitar world’s only (and definitely the first) single-manufacturer trade shows, where dealers come from around the country to secure their wholesale purchases of Paul Reed Smith guitars and amps, it also gives regular old dudes a chance to see the PRS factory in all its splendor. And by splendor, we mean bare efficiency and palettes and palettes of virgin wood.
