Van Halen, Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductees and one of the most influential rock bands to come out of the ’70s and ’80s, are announcing their return to the concert stage with a 2012 North American tour. According to a press release, the announcement was made late last night during a performance at the intimate Café Wha? in NYC. Known around the world for their stage acumen and explosiveness, the legendary rock band will begin their tour on February 18th, with Kool & The Gang joining Van Halen for some dates.

Everybody knows the box method, with the five different patterns for each scale, and some guitarists subscribe to the 3 notes per string approach, but other than that, there haven’t really been any innovations with scales on the guitar lately.
