As our article numbers and readership grow, we at Guitar International thought it’d be a good idea to list our most read articles each month for our readers who may not have had the chance to read every article. 1) Summer NAMM 2010 Full Coverage – It’s June in Tennessee and we all know what that means. No not the heat, humidity or roar of stock-car engines, it’s time again for the annual Summer NAMM show held at the Nashville Conference Center in the city’s beautiful downtown district, and Guitar International is on the scene with live coverage of the festivities.

2) Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage – On June 10, 2010, I attended a one-night-only theater showing of the new Rush film/dvd documentary Beyond the Lighted Stage.  Not surprisingly, the theater was packed with fellow Rush fans (some with hapless wives or girlfriends in tow), and we collectively enjoyed this long overdue, heartfelt tribute to “our band.”

3) Interview with Play Crossroads Winner Ryan McGarvey – Ryan McGarvey is one of the brightest, young blues-guitarists hitting the scene today. A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, this twenty-three year old guitar sensation has been making a name for himself on the national and international scene, flaunting a string of credits that would be impressive even for the most seasoned of blues veterans.

4) John McLaughlin: Musical and Spiritual Connection – Played with Miles Davis, check. Helped invent the jazz-fusion movement and played on the genre’s most important album, check. Introduced millions of Western listeners to the wonders of Indian classical music and improvisation, check. Exponentially raised the level of rhythmic diversity in jazz, check. Recorded one of the most commercially successful jazz albums of all time while simultaneously making people rethink the acoustic guitar’s role in modern music, check.

6) Summer NAMM 2010: Ernie Ball-Musicman – Guitar makers Ernie Ball-Music Man showcased their wares in a split-booth format at this year’s Summer NAMM show. One side of the aisle was set up to display a wide array of Ernie Ball guitars and accessories, including a beautiful Music Man Albert Lee Signature Model.

9) Concert Review: Jeff Beck Live at Wolf Trap – Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame guitarist, Jeff Beck, gifted the crowd at the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, Vienna, Virginia with a full spectrum performance, weaving together a fine blend of classic r&b, rock, funk, opera, and a stirring show tune, all wrapped in soulful and superbly nuanced expression. When Jeff strolled on stage, the audience erupted.
