There was a big focus on two items for Gibson at this year’s NAMM show, the infamous Firebird X and the company’s bread and butter, the Les Paul. Besides showcasing the Eric Clapton 1960 Les Paul, the Marc Bolan Les Paul, two Don Felder Les Pauls and the Alex Lifeson Axcess Les Paul, Gibson also launched three LP’s with new finishes.
On display were the Les Paul Standard with Chicago Blue finish, the Les Paul Traditional with Wine Red Finish and a Les Paul studio with Worn Cherry finish. While there certainly was a buzz about the Firebird X, we really thought that the attention should have been diverted to the other side of the room and these three great looking guitars.
