David impressed us with his vocals and risky song selections that were staples of the airwaves and firmly embedded in our national entertainment psyche. Catch Cook’s rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” where he lifted the high water mark of Michael’s catalogue and plopped it into the world of ballads. Perfect.

That’s not to say that’s he’s not continuing his work with Camp Freddy and Circus Diablo, two groups that he’s worked with for several years.

Released on their debut record, 2003’s Fever to Tell, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs had a hit on their hands with their single “Maps.” The song, which portrays the relationship between Liars lead singer Angus Andrew and the band’s front-woman Karen O. The title is actually an acronym for the words “My Angus Please Stay,” and was featured on the band’s appearance during the 2004 MTV Music Awards, landed at #9 on the Billboard Modern Rock Charts and was featured in the popular video game Rock Band.

Modern rockers Irvine have recently released a video for their single “Welcome Home.” The song features strong lyrics, great musicianship and a vocal hook that sticks in in your head and just won’t let go. Irvine brings a maturity to their songwriting and performances that one would expect from a band much older and experienced, a testament to their natural talent and ability to play off their strengths.
