Yeah Yeah Yeahs Maps

Yeah Yeah Yeahs Maps

Released on their debut record, 2003’s Fever to Tell, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs had a hit on their hands with their single “Maps.” The song, which portrays the relationship between Liars lead singer Angus Andrew and the band’s front-woman Karen O. The title is actually an acronym for the words “My Angus Please Stay,” and was featured on the band’s appearance during the 2004 MTV Music Awards, landed at #9 on the Billboard Modern Rock Charts and was featured in the popular video game Rock Band.

The video for “Maps” featured Karen O crying, which she later explained in a 2010 interview with Contactmusic.com, “They were real tears. My boyfriend at the time [Angus Andrew] was supposed to come to the shoot – he was three hours late and I was just about to leave for tour. I didn’t think he was even going to come and this was the song that was written for him. He eventually showed up and I got myself in a real emotional state.” It’s a great song, with tons of emotion behind it and a great tune to get under your fingers as a guitarist, check it out!
