For a 50th anniversary tour and to celebrate their new release of Breathe Out, Breathe In, the iconic ‘60s rock band The Zombies are playing a lengthy tour with fellow UK sensations Strawbs (in their Acoustic Strawbs incarnation and lineup), with both bands meeting and exceeding expectations across the board.

It’s a hot September night near the banks of the Chesapeake Bay in Stevensville, Maryland, home of Paul Reed Smith Guitars that launched their 5th year of Experience PRS with some fancy bluegrass licks by mandolin aficionado Ricky Skaggs and the staggering guitar master, Cody Kilby. We’ve been coming to Experience PRS trade shows since they started in 2007 and the PRS family of dealers, distributors, employees, endorsees and birds and moons enthusiasts have never been let down.

This summer, a sublime set of jazz wafted out the door of the Parisian corner café, Dus des Lombard, one of the finest jazz cafés in the city. The club can be found in the heart of Les Marais (The Marsh), surrounded by art galleries, bistros, clothiers and the sputtering of errant motorbikes passing along the Boulevard Sebastopol.

Alice Cooper Superstar made his presence known in New Jersey when he thrilled a packed hall at the Mayo Center in Morristown. Alice’s faithful arrived in full force, and in full make-up, enjoying songs from his 30 plus year career.

Mid-way into tonight’s set, singer Geoff Tate told the crowd, “It’s been 30 years since the band formed. We can’t live in the past because it already happened and we can’t live in the future, so we can only live in the present and enjoy the moment.” He then asked the crowd, “Are you enjoying yourself tonight?” the crowd responded with a thunderous applaud in agreement. That set the tone for tonight’s show!

Experiments can sometimes go horribly wrong. Beakers can boil over, frogs can mutate, and people can accidentally create unstable explosives when they are just trying to make a precipitate form in a solution. The Chicago edition of Dave Matthews Band Caravan was definitely an experiment, and although no unstable explosives killed anyone, not everything was peachy and wonderful.

Meatloaf had to be “well done” while performing at Quick Chek Festival of Ballooning at Solberg Airport in NJ on one of the hottest summer days this past Sunday. Dress in black from head-to-toe, the 63 year old singer hit the stage at 4:00 pm with his 7 piece band, including guitarists Paul Crook and Randy Flowers. When most people were looking for shade or dousing themselves with water, Meat was cooking on the sun-drenched stage and rockin’ out.

From the stage at the Mayo Center in Morristown NJ, Wildman Ted Nugent yelled down to the audience “Do I know how to piss people off well?” The crowd answered with a thunderous applause, with a resounding “yes.” Though that statement rings true with regard to Ted’s irreverent political rhetoric and unbridled candor, he’s also known in the Rock n Roll community as an icon and guitar god.
