Legendary guitarist Neal Schön has joined forces with bassist Marco Mendoza (Black Star Riders, Ted Nugent, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy) and drummer Deen Castronovo (Journey, Ozzy Osbourne, Steve Vai, Hardline) to create a unique body of work with jazz and blues-inspired virtuosic hard rock playing, entitled SO U.

Mascot Label Group’s Provogue Records and Eric Johnson announce a June 24 release date for Europe Live. Guitar Player Magazine cited Johnson as “one of the most respected guitarists on the planet,” and the reasons why are many.

This August, songwriting legends John Fogerty and Jackson Browne will co-headline two east coast concerts. The shows will take place on August 4th at PNC in Holmdel, New Jersey and Jones Beach in Wantagh, NY on August 5th.

Guitars for Vets (G4V) is a non-profit organization providing guitar instruction and free acoustic guitars to injured military veterans and they have launched their “Artist Ambassador” coalition. Their first “Artist Ambassador” is Dick Wagner, who famously banded with co-lead guitarist Steve Hunter for Lou Reed and Alice Cooper.

Inducted in 2004 to the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Barrett Strong is a pivotal figure in Detroit’s history as a singer, writer and composer. “Money (That’s What I Want)” for Anna Records in 1960 provided vital capital for Berry Gordy Jr. to expand his operation. The song gave Mr. Strong his only major hit as a vocalist, reaching #2 on the R&B charts and barely missing the pop Top 20. “Money” is one of the most widely covered songs including a cool version by “The BEATLES.”
