While playing at a gig at the State Cinema in London, England, the legendary jazz guitarist, Django Rheinhardt (1910-1953), took the time to befriend an 18-year-old British lad just before the teenager joined the Army in 1940. Albert Offenbach served throughout the war as a radar man, keeping his Gibson guitar at his side until WW II ended.

Forty-five years after releasing his debut album, The New Boss Guitar, jazz guitarist George Benson is still going strong. With the upcoming August 25, 2009, release date set for his latest studio album Songs And Stories, the ten-time Grammy winner pays tribute to some of his favorite songwriters and composers. Featuring an all-star line up that includes bassist Marcus Miller, guitarists Lee Ritenour and Toninho Horta, saxophonists Tom Scott and Gerald Albright, among others, Benson and company come together to produce an album that is not only a tribute to great songwriters, it is also a reflection of more than four decades of experience by one of jazz’s greatest instrumentalists and vocalists.

Nad Sylvan is an American-born Swedish singer with a prolific career in progressive rock, where he has collaborated in projects with former Genesis, Steve Hackett, and also with Roine Stolt in his band, Agents of Mercy. Recently, he released Spiritus Mundi, his seventh solo album. This work centers around the poems coming from 1923 Nobel Prize-winning William Butler Yeats (1865-1939), one of the most important Irish writers in history, and who Sylvan calls “one of the finest poets to come out of Ireland.”
