PRS Collection Series
Paul Reed Smith Private Stock guitars not beautiful enough for you? Enter the Collection Series from Private Stock, overseen directly by Paul himself. The Collection Series guitars are built in very small runs of only a dozen at one time, with the total coming to only 70 electrics and 70 acoustics every year. Using the best materials and best woods from PRS’s secret stash of exotic tone woods, Paul and his luthiers will pouring themselves into these instruments.
The two models in the Collection series are the Collection McCarty and Collection Tonare Grand.
Specs for the McCarty: Curly maple top, figured mahogany back, “London Soot” finish, 25” scale, 22 fret pernambuco ‘Pattern’ neck, African blackwood fingerboard, paua heart, paua heart purfling along the fingerboard, 14k gold, and ivory Collection Celtic inlays, ebony headstock veneer w/ 14k gold inlaid PRS signature and mammoth ivory “Collection,” headstock veneer, and truss rod cover as well as gold side dots, gold Phase III tuners, PRS tremolo (hybrid hardware), PRS Collection treble and bass pickups, volume and push/pull tone control with 3-way toggle pickup selector.
Specs for the Tonare Grand: European bearclaw spruce top with paua heart/black purfling and an ebony, paua heart on a 16” dreadnought body with proprietary hybrid X bracing, a green abalone and 14k gold rosette, curly ‘tiger’ maple back and sides with black/maple/black purfling and ‘Tiger Eye’ smoked burst back and sides, pernambuco ‘wide’ neck with paua heart, 14k gold, and mammoth ivory Collection Celtic inlays, ebony headstock veneer with 14k gold inlaid Paul Reed Smith signature and mammoth ivory “Collection,” ebony bridge and bridge pins with mammoth ivory inlays, Robson tuning pegs with ivoroid buttons, PRS Acoustic pickup/preamp system.
The Collection Series guitars cannot be ordered; they can only be bought from select Private Stock Collection dealers, who receive the guitars in pairs of one electric and one acoustic. This is a very special partnership between the company and the dealers, so Paul will be visiting each dealer who signs up with PRS endorser to personally thank them.
