Groove metal maestros Mastodon and mathcore nuts Dillinger Escape Plan have announced that they are teaming up for a tour this fall/winter, with heavy metallers Red Fang providing opening support. Dillinger is still touring behind their 2009 coup de grace Option Paralysis, and Mastodon will be playing the hell out of their new album, The Hunter, which is due out later this month.

According to Blabbermouth.net, Mastodon will be appearing on the “Late Show With David Letterman” on October 5th. They will be playing “Curl Of The Burl” from The Hunter, which is “about meth heads in the woods of West Virginia who look for certain types of knots in a tree,” according to drummer Brann Dailor. Apparently the meth heads sell the knots to furniture makers to fuel their addiction.
Mastodon also just released a new music video for “Spectrelight,” Track 11 on The Hunter, which hits physical shelves and the Internet on September 27th. Check it out below:
