Atlanta heavy metallers Mastodon are giving fans a sneak peak at their new album, The Hunter, which you can check out below. The album, which they’ve said will probably have an October release date, will be the follow-up to Crack The Skye, the band’s 2009 juggernaut of an album.

According to NME, the trailer features “Black Tongue”, a destructive riff-fest that will be featured on this fall’s The Hunter. The album will also feature “Blasteroids”, “All The Heavy Lifting”, “Curl Of The Burl”, “Dry Bone Valley”, “Stargasm” and “The Octopus Has No Friends”. A tracklisting has not yet been released.

Previous interviews have found the band describing The Hunter as much different than most of their previous material and at the same time a back to basics journey, and one listen to the clip of “Black Tongue” all but confirms that description.
