Dean NAMM Jam With Megadeth, Hell Yeah and More

By: Rob Cavuoto

The one thing about NAMM is that you can always guarantee a great party will happen. At this year’s NAMM it was the Dean Guitar’s NAMM JAM featuring Leslie West, Michael Schenker, Hellyeah and Megadeth at The Grove in Anaheim.

Michael Angelo Batio melted faces as he tore through his double-neck, ambidextrous guitar, showcasing the killer technique that has made him one of the fastest guitarists of all time.

Leslie West, fresh out of the hospital for an undisclosed reason, was on hand to play a few songs including “People Get Ready” and of course “Mississippi Queen”.

Next up was Michael Schenker’s band performing some of his classics like “On an On” and the UFO classic “Doctor Doctor.”

Then Hellyeah blasted onto the stage and assaulted the crowd with five or six songs including, “Cowboy Way,” “Better Man,” “Hellyeah” “Stampede” and “Alcohaulin’ Ass.”

Megadeth closed the show in the only way they know how, but putting on an amazing show for the massive crowd gathered to thrash along to their songs. I talked to a young fan after the show who said, “I’ve never really gotten into Megadeth before, but after tonight I’m a fan, they rocked!” Not surprising given the powerful show that the band unleashed on the audience that night.

Here are some pics from that night’s concert. (We weren’t able to grab pics of Megadeth that night for reasons beyond our control, I know, I know they were the headliners, but we included a vintage live pic of Dave for your enjoyment instead)
