Rare George Harrison Stage Played Mastersound Electric Guitar Sells for $490,000 at Julien’s Auctions

Julien’s Auctions, the world’s premier entertainment and music memorabilia auction house announced results of this weekend’s two-day Music Icons 2015 auction which was held at the Hard Rock New York.

George Harrison’s Mastersound

A rare George Harrison stage played Mastersound Electric Guitar sold for $490,000 during the first day of the auction on Friday, May 15, 2015 to an undisclosed bidder.

The George Harrison played 1963 Mastersound Electric Guitar  was used by Harrison in the summer of 1963 when he had it on loan from Barratt’s Music Store.

Harrison played it in concert at Margate (July 8 to 13), in Liverpool (August 2), at a photo call at the Cavern (August 3) and when the Beatles played Guernsey, Channel Island (August 6-10).

The 1976 MCI Crusader Elvis TCB [Taking Care of Business] Tour Bus which was originally purchased with funds provided by Elvis Presley for his band, The TCB Band led by J.D. Sumner sold for $258,000.

Other highlights of Music Icons at Julien’s Auctions this weekend included Elvis Presley’s Penguin Suit he wore on stage in Las Vegas in 1975 sold for $121,875, Elvis and Priscilla’s Marriage Certificate sold for $40,625, an Elvis Presley Diamond ring sold for $46,875, an Elvis Presley signed  Louisiana Hayride contract from 1955 sold for $40,625,  Jimi Hendrix’s stage worn vest sold for $59,375, Madonna’s stage worn tank top sold for $25,000, a Michael Jackson black crystal glove worn in the History tour trailer teaser with Tompkins & Bush label sold for $46,875, a Michael Jackson military inspired jacket he wore to the Rock Hall Inductions sold for $84,375, Britney Spear’s video worn bra which sold for slightly over $4,000, Lady Gaga’s worn latex bodysuit which sold for $15,000, Eric Clapton’s Gibson SG guitar sold for $37,500, Cher’s Bob Mackie designed dress sold for $8,125 and a Vic Flick owned and played 1961 Fender Stratocaster sold for $18,750.

Bidders also had the chance to relive a bit of television nostalgia when the Collection of Davy Jones went up on the auction block.

Among The Monkees highlights at the auction were the Davy Jones American Pop Music Hall of Fame Award which sold for $8,750, Davy Jones Monkees Walk of Fame Award which sold for $7,500 and a Davy Jones neon Monkees logo sign which also sold for $7,500.
