Michael Nesmith will launch the month-long Nez Solo Spring 2013 Tour on March 21 outside of Nashville as Nez’s Solo Spring 2013 Tour prepares to take him to the metro areas of New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

As much as I was captured by the primitive blues art of bluesman, Lennie Jones, it was our conversation that pulled me in to fascinate. I became captivated by the full sweep of his life that found its way from the dark holler of a Virginia jail, to the sweat-filled isolation when hunting down swamp rats in Florida’s Everglades.

Any list of seminal 1960s electric blues albums is incomplete without Albert King’s Born Under a Bad Sign positioned near the top. The Indianola, Mississippi-born “King of the Blues Guitar,” who cut his professional teeth as a resident of the St. Louis suburb of Lovejoy, Ill., cemented his legacy with his Stax Records debut album.

I always find it interesting to discover that guitarists, not only have a passion for guitar, but have a full tank of creativity always ready to delve into artistic areas. Brian Holland and I met in 2005, when he began his career in writing about music, with a strong inclination to steer toward the blues.
