For today’s hard rock fans, the release of Black Country Communion has been a greatly anticipated supergroup event. And now that the self-titled CD is about to drop (Sept. 21), they’ll finally get to hear the assortment of solid recordings from this melting pot of influences.

The Mission UK has unfairly – to my mind – been tossed into the Goth-rock category from Day One, and thus dismissed by people who never thought to give their extremely strong and diverse rock albums a spin

Without viewing my article published seven months ago as a shameless plug here, I’d like to mention that when I wrote “Supergroups – Vultures, Chicks, and Other Picks,” I was certain that Slash was about to do something big, even though I knew nothing of his plans.

The music business has changed dramatically over the past few years. While music is still an international language, the world has become a smaller place, and unfortunately record sales have declined in scope as well. Though sales are down, the rapid pace of technological advancements and the rise of independent artists has caused a tremendous global demand for new music.

To begin with, for those unaware, a supergroup is a rock band consisting of members from a variety of prior successful endeavors, musicians who are renowned independently as well. Every now and then, a supergroup infiltrates the rock music world, immediately creating intense anticipation and interest.
