In celebration of the 50th anniversary, Jesse Colin Young has announced a fully remastered release of one of his most iconic albums, Song for Juli, due out on September 15. Originally released on September 4, 1973, the all-new version will be available on all streaming platforms as well as extremely limited-edition vinyl.

The Les Paul Foundation presented the “Early Days of Multi-Tracking” with presentations by Grammy winning record producer and sound engineer Steve Rosenthal and curator Perry Margouleff. Rock & Roll road warrior Dave Mason will be continuing his Endangered Species Tour throughout the end of October, performing fifteen shows in fourteen cities on the west coast beginning Thursday, September 7, in Salem, Oregon. “We are looking forward to this final run of 2023. There is nothing quite like performing live. I love it! Always have and always will!” exclaims the legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame musician, who co-founded the band Traffic.

In light of his passing, the iconic bluegrass guitarist ,Tony Rice, continues to make headlines. Paying homage to the Virginia-born guitar legend was flat-picking sensation Billy Strings. While playing Tony’s prized Martin D-28, he announced during his concert that Camp Springs Bluegrass Park would hold a two-day festival to honor Tony.

The concept of playing for free or for spare change is one for the ages. And the decisions for performing for little to no compensation is one to not take lightly, and should consider one’s level of talent, name recognition, commerciality, as well as the venue or circumstances that offer “real estate” to perform your original songs, cover songs or, most likely a mix of the two.
