Not only is Teddy Richards a seasoned session musician, he is also a well-accomplished singer-songwriter and performer, and as a result has opened with his original compositions for artists such as Lenny Kravitz, Seal and The Verve Pipe. He’s also co-written some great songs with the likes of Andrew Farriss (INXS), Carlos Alomar (David Bowie), and Marcy Levi (Natalie Cole, Joe Cocker) and the legendary, Al Green.

We caught up with Tom Guerra recently to talk about Sentimental Junk, the work involved and the creative juice needed to not only craft great songs, but to properly dress them with the right instrumentation, vocals that suit them and a collaboration between musicians, who are also friends, who help supercharge his songs into fun romps that hit on all cylinders, that offer up thoughtful meaningful lyrics, impressing them with his  own personal stamp.

This self-titled record marks Rory Gallagher’s first solo excursion following the break-up of his rising group, Taste. For the most part, this CD sticks to the “Power Trio” format, as was featured in Taste. However, percussion is handled by Wilgar Campbell along with bassist Gerry McAvoy holding down the low end. Rory must have found he had gotten the formula right, as both went on to tour and record the next album, Deuce, as part of the legendary Irish guitarist’s trio.
