When The Outfield’s debut album, Play Deep, conquered the airwaves in 1986, I was but a freshman in high school. The album had actually been released in 1985, but the first single (“Say It Isn’t So” – still a great song in its own right) didn’t achieve mass penetration on American radio.
Come summer, classic rock fans will be in for a truly memorable evening of timeless music and endless hits, as Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitar greats Dave Mason and Steve Cropper will be hitting the road together for the first time in their careers on the Rock & Soul Revue tour that will be landing in several cities throughout the U.S. (see all currently confirmed dates below including first show/special engagement at Saloon Studios in West Jefferson, NC on May 12).
On June 8th and 9th, PRS Guitars hosted their ninth “Experience PRS” open house event. This year’s event saw record attendance, which has more than quadrupled since the debut Experience PRS in 2007. The Les Paul Foundation, whose mission is to honor and share the life, spirit and legacy of Les Paul through the generations has announced multi-GRAMMY™ Award winning composer, producer, arranger and guitarist, Nile Rodgers, to be honored with the third annual Les Paul Spirit Award at this year’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. The award will be presented to Rodgers on Saturday, June 9th, 2018, the same day Les Paul would have turned 103 years old. Previous recipients of the prestigious Les Paul Spirit Award were Grateful Dead founding member Bob Weir (2016) and U2’s The Edge (2017).
