Hi there…
Today is the first day of the Paul Reed Smith Experience 2009 trade show, an event that Paul and crew came up with and started back in 2007. At the first show around 700 distributors, dealers, celebrity artists and media folks flew or drove in to the Stevensville, Maryland plant near the shores of the Chesapeake Bay to check out the company’s new gear that included the formal debut of their very cool Mira model.
So, I’m packing my bag, pulling together all the equipment and stuff needed to cover the event, get in my truck and hit the road. Fortunately, home is less than two hours from PRS Guitars and a mid-day drive thru D.C. traffic to get there isn’t too bad. Rush hour is a different story. The company is anticipating over 2,000 visitors this year.
Although the king of the hill will most certainly be Paul Reed Smith himself, standing by will be Jack Higginbotham, President, PRS Guitars and Frank De Fina, VP, PRS Guitars, along with the media contact, Rebecca Eaddy, who’s always a great help.
But, really, everyone knows that the “go to” person for this event is Beverly Fowler, who is a major player in pulling the event together and troubleshooting things if anything goes awry. The weather today is a bit drizzly here in Virginia and if anyone can fix that potential problem at PRS today in Maryland….it’s Ms. Fowler.
We’ll be covering the event once the gates open around 1:30 (EST) today…so, technical difficulties or glitches aside, GI photographer Michael G. Stewart and I will try to push a few things out while the PRS Experience 2009 trade show is in progress.
All the Best and Keep on Plucking!
Rick
