First Fall is New York City based guitarist and composer Shai Jaschek‘s debut album. A combination of striking melodies and innovative arrangements of classic jazz standards, this album sets Shai apart as a promising up and coming artist on the New York jazz scene.

Shai Jaschek has performed with the “Haifa Big Band”, the “Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra”, and led his own trio in international festivals such as the “Jerusalem Jazz Festival” and Toronto’s “Jewish Music Week” festival.

Jaschek’s New York performances include top clubs such as Mezzrow, Canary Club, and more.

Jaschek’s trio, consisting of Benjamin Young (bass) and Willis Edmundson (drums), plays as a strong unit and their deep musical connection is felt through the album. The trio place spontaneity and collective improvisation at the forefront of the music, moving together seamlessly.

“First Fall, “the title track of the album composed by Jaschek, depicts his first sightings of the stunning Fall views of New York City after arriving from his home country of Israel. Shai’s warm sound and soulful playing draw the listener into the music connecting them to his experience.

One of the album’s highlights is the band’s version of Vernon Duke’s “Autumn in New York”, featuring critically acclaimed New York vocalist, Naama Gheber. With a smooth voice and emotional interpretation, Gheber moves the listener with this timeless piece.

First Fall was released on 10/20/2023 and is available on all the major streaming platforms, and is a must for every jazz enthusiast for the upcoming fall season.
