Guitar International magazine has assigned our past Western Illinois University (WIU) summer intern, Brady Lavin, as its new Managing Editor. He is finishing up degrees in Music Business and Accountancy at WIU. His past experience has included running Rock N Rolla, a music newsletter and entertainment guide. All advertising proceeds from the newsletter were used to promote music and education.
Brady’s played guitar across the Midwest in a number of styles that include funk, rock, jazz, reggae/dub and jam band music. At the same time, he’s run The Loft, a Macomb, Illinois Do-It-Yourself venue. The Loft showcases local talent from the area and consistently books little known but well-loved touring acts from around the country, including groups from Philadelphia, New York City, New Orleans, and Atlanta and many more.
“While interning at Guitar International, Brady proved to be an invaluable resource. He punched out a ton of strong well-written content that included interviews, reviews and news. His work ethic is very, very impressive and his love of guitar and all kinds of music has been reflected in his work. Within a few weeks on-board working as a staff writer, it was very apparent that this was a guy we wanted to keep. As Guitar International magazine’s new Managing Editor, we’re looking forward to Brady keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly, while helping us continue to build the magazine into the premier site for guitarists around the world,” offered Dr. Matt Warnock, Editor-in-Charge/Associate Publisher, Guitar International.
