Scorpions frontman Klaus Meine has announced a couple of big releases for the band in the upcoming months. While chatting with ArabNews.com, he revealed plans to release a 3D concert DVD quite soon, possibly just in a couple months.

Gibson Lifestyle is reporting that the DVD includes footage from performances in Germany, their native country, and that it is in the mixing stage. Meine expressed excitement when asked how the mixing is going: “You can actually feel the smoke string out of the guitar…It is an incredible experience.”

In the same interview, Klaus Meine also announced plans to release an album of covers later this year. The record, which is to feature mostly ’60s covers, is a tribute to the bands that inspired Scorpions the most from that era. “The ’60s was the era for our inspiration,” Meine said. “Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones – they were our role models.”

All these upcoming releases may seem odd, considering Scorpions are currently on a farewell tour. Meine explained that the “farewell-ness” of the tour is only for performing live and that they wanted to go out with a bang and not a fizzle. “We owe it to ourselves and our fans,” the singer explained. “We toured in 25 countries just last year. We want to finish off in style.”
