Daisy Rock Girl Guitars, the original girl-guitar company, proudly welcomes singer-songwriter Amber Rubarth, to the family. With her honest and humorous lyrics, this former wood sculpture apprentice is becoming one of the most successful, self-sufficient artists in the indie scene.
Rubarth was told about Daisy Rock Guitars through a friend. She checked out the website where she immediately fell in love with the Ruby Sparkle Stardust Retro-H De-Luxe, and it is now a part of her collection. “With its vintage look and wonderfully jangly, scrappy tone, this guitar is the perfect fit for Amber to match her folk inspired sound,” said Tish Ciravolo, President and Founder of Daisy Rock. “We are excited to be a part of her rising career.”
This Northern California native moved to Carson City, Nevada to begin an apprenticeship in wood sculpture using chainsaws. After three years, she quit the apprenticeship to follow her dream of becoming a full-time musician. She started out playing local coffee shops and open mic nights and has since toured throughout the U.S. and Europe. In 2006, her song “Washing Day”, co-written with Adam Levy, the former guitarist in Norah Jones’ Band and fellow Daisy Rocker, won the 2006 International Songwriting Competition for Lyrics—an impressive accomplishment for an indie artist who picked up a guitar for the first time just a few years back.
In addition to her solo work, Rubarth formed a band with songwriter and long-time collaborator, Alex Wong, called The Paper Raincoat. Their 2009 debut EP, Safe in the Sound, was featured as an iTunes Indie Spotlight Artist, and their album The Paper Raincoat was released in October 2009, soon after.
Most recently, Amber won the NewSong Mountain Stage Contest and will record her new release with Grammy® award-winning producer Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Kings of Leon, Norah Jones) this spring, followed by an NPR Mountain Stage concert.
