Composer, guitarist and record label owner, Steve Vai will soon celebrate his birthday on June 6 and he’ll have more than a birthday cake to light up the festivities. Illumination will also surround him by way of his new lamp from a California company called Lamps Plus.
The brainstorm of Andy Alt, one of company’s copyrighters, the lamp shade was rendered from a photograph that Lamps Plus took of Steve’s new Ibanez JEM77 six- string. The lamp matches the colors of his axe perfectly.

The brainstorm of Andy Alt, one of Lamps Plus’s copyrighters, the company snapped a photo of Steve’s new Ibanez JEM77 six- string and created a lamp that matches the colors of the axe perfectly.
The company can give its clients custom-made lamps to reflect their interests in guitars, cars, sports teams and any number of cool ideas to “fit” someone’s favorite hobby or worldly interest – or unworldly for that matter.
Lamps Plus uses a six step process that relies on a bit of help from customers in order to better key in on specific desired designs. So, customers will need a digital camera and a computer in order to download a photo in order to make a color selection to match the colors of your guitar or other chosen item.
