Martin Guitar News: NAMM Show 2011

By: Staff

Martin used this year’s NAMM show to showcase some of their new products including the 1.5 millionth Martin Guitar that Martin’s Dick Boak can be seen holding below.

In addition to guitar #1,500,000, dubbed “Da Vinci Unplugged” due to the amazing Leonardo da Vinci-inspired inlay and scrimshaw work that has to be seen to be believed, C. F. Martin & Co. have put together an expansive slate of new and innovative products that NAMM attendees can see for the first time by visiting the legendary acoustic guitar maker’s booth this week at the Anaheim Convention Center.

New Models

The introduction of two new Custom Artist Edition guitars: the Martin JSO! Sing Out Pete Seeger (6-string) and the Martin J12SO! Sing Out Pete Seeger (12-string). The guitars mark the 60th anniversary of Sing Out!, the magazine, songbook publisher and syndicator of traditional music radio shows that Seeger helped found in 1950. To mark this milestone, no more than 120 of these guitars are being built, signed by both Seeger and Martin Chairman and CEO Christian Frederick (Chris) Martin IV.

Performing Artist Series

The expansion of its “Performing Artist Series,” which is the company’s fastest-growing product line. It is launching three brand new PA4 Gloss-Top models, the company’s most-affordable yet. Along with these new models, Martin Guitar is showcasing the five new PA models it announced this past October, all for the first time at NAMM. Additionally, the company is making a limited edition of 25 new GPC-42E Amazon Rosewood acoustic/electric instruments available to dealers exclusively at the show.

Road Series

Many more new products, from the DRS1 Dreadnought, marking the return of the Road Series; to the D-18P & D-28P High Performance, which feature the High-Performance Necks found on Martin’s PA series; and many more, including the CEO-6 CEO’s Choice – the sixth in a series of Special Edition guitars designed and introduced by Chris Martin IV, the sixth generation Martin to head the company since it was formed in 1833.
