Boy are we glad that we were in the front row at the PRS Guitars press conference at this year’s NAMM show, because the company didn’t hold any punches when they announced new amp models, a Dweezil Zappa signature model, new line models and new acoustic guitars.
One of the biggest announcements was that the company just launched two new signature acoustic guitars, for Tony McManus and Martin Simpson, and that they are developing two more for Cody Kilby and Ricky Skaggs.
Acoustic guitar makers should be looking over their backs, because if PRS puts their mind to delving further into the acoustic guitar world the rest of the pack might be in trouble.

“So, I want to touch on Private stock and our regular acoustic store for a minute. All four of our acoustic endorsees are here, Martin Simpson, Tony McManus, Ricky Skaggs and Cody Kilby. To that end, that’s pretty cool they’re all here, we are releasing a Martin Simpson acoustic and Tony McManus acoustic guitar.
We have decided, since I have no cache whatsoever with the acoustic guitar that we’re going to put their names on the headstock. So, can we pull one each down? You are now looking at the moment of releasing these two instruments, the Tony McManus model from Private Stock and the Martin Simpson Signature edition from Private.”
