It’s All About The Music When Les Paul – The Tour Arrives in Cleveland Celebrating The City Which Coined the Phrase “Rock N’ Roll”

This week Cleveland will host Les Paul – The Tour with free local entertainment each day, an exclusive look inside the world of Les Paul and the opportunity to interact with the state-of-the-art technology produced aboard the mobile touring vehicle for all to enjoy.

The tour and experience is free as is all of the local entertainment and bands scheduled to perform. It’s all part of the 100th Anniversary Celebration of Les Paul.

As it makes its way across the country, the exciting interactive tour will arrive in Cleveland on Wednesday August 12th and complete its stop on Sunday August 16th, 2015. Fans of Les Paul, rock n’ roll and musical innovation will have two opportunities to experience Les Paul – The Tour.

On Wednesday, August 12th, 2015, Les Paul’s Big Sound Experience will open at Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park from 12 noon – 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 14th, 2015 Les Paul’s Big Sound Experience will open at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and remain there through Sunday August 16th, 2015.

The hours at the Rock Hall appearance are Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Saturday from 12 noon – 9:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. As an inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Les Paul is also part of the museum’s permanent exhibition.

The 53’ state-of-the-art tour vehicle takes guests behind the scenes into the world of Les Paul giving them the opportunity for numerous interactive exchanges within 1,000 square feet full of music, technology and the energy of Les Paul!

Guests young and old will immerse themselves in music exploration, sound and technology innovations and hands-on entertainment. The tour is free and open to the public.

Visitors will also be able to mix and share music as they discover Les Paul, the man many define as the most important innovator of the music industry. Popular local bands are also expected to perform at each location.

“Cleveland was always very special to Les,” said Michael Braunstein, Executive Director of the Les Paul Foundation. “This is the city that hosted the last tribute concert at the Rock Hall and in which many of his friends are from. He is also honored at the Rock Hall with a great exhibit that I hope everyone has a chance to visit.”

Known as the “Father of the Solid Body Electric Guitar,” “The Wizard of Waukesha,” “Rhubarb Red,” “The Father of Modern Music,” and more, Les Paul’s curiosity about sound began at a very young age. Contemporary artists such as Slash, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Joan Jett, Jimi Hendrix and many others have paid homage to Les Paul throughout their careers. As an inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Les Paul is also part of the Museum’s permanent exhibition. The New Sound: Les Paul and the Electric Guitar features numerous artifacts related to Les Paul’s life and career. Among the key items are the very first guitar he owned as a child, his first attempt to make an electric solid-body guitar out of a wood plank, the “Clunker” (which he used on his most famous recordings) and a very early model Gibson Les Paul.

The exhibit also includes artifacts from his childhood home (a record player, radio, etc.), as well as other inventions and innovations. In addition, a vintage TV shows clips from The Les Paul & Mary Ford at Home show, which was a long-running television series that aired nationally from their living room five nights a week from 1953 – 1960.
