While there were many huge names at this year’s NAMM show, including Megadeth, Hell Yeah, Steve Vai and Orianthi to name but a few, one of the player’s that we thought really stole the show was Alex Skolnick. Most readers will know Alex from his work with Testament, but his recent move into the fusion jazz world has also been highly successful, with a new album by his trio due out in March of this year.

We were blown away by the Alex Skolnick trio’s performance during the first day of the show, and so we were glad we ran into his solo gig at the Heritage booth, where he was demoing his H-150 signature guitar. With a large crowd gathered around him, the talented guitarist weaved his way through song after song of world class solo guitar work.

Even with Steve Vai signing autographs just across the hall, the crowd at the Heritage booth never diminished, now that’s saying something, especially at an event like NAMM where folks are often darting from one both to another as fast as they can. After seeing two great performances by Alex at this year’s NAMMM we can’t wait to hear the new album in March, it’s looking to be a great release by a great guitarist.
