Real Gone Music To Roll Out Unreleased Glen Campbell Live Album And Much More

Real Gone Music, the new indie label headed by reissue gurus Gordon Anderson and Gabby Castellana will roll out a never-before-released Glen Campbell live album, Bill Medley’s post-Righteous Brothers solo albums for MGM, a 1975 album by Maggie & Terre Roche of the Roches, a retrospective of country singer Jody Miller’s Epic Records years and two new Dick’s Picks volumes from the Grateful Dead for their January 2012 lineup of reissues. According to a press release, the January releases will also feature, as part of the label’s ongoing partnership with ABKCO Music & Records, Inc., The Tymes’ So Much in Love and the complete Cameo recordings of stratospheric jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson.

Barcelona International Jazz Festival To Kick Off This Weekend!

The 43rd Annual Voll-Damm Barcelona International Jazz Festival is set to kick off this coming Sunday, October 16th and will run all the way until Thursday, December 1st, 2011. The month-and-a-half long celebration will feature performances by many great artists, including Maria Schneider Orchestra, Rudresh Mahanthappa Samdhi, Vijay Iyer Trio, Pat Metheny with Larry Grenadier and Bill Stewart, Eliane Elias Brazilian Quartet, bassist Dave Holland with Flamenco guitar legend Pepe Habichuela, Joshua Redman and Brad Mehldau, Randy Weston and his African Rhythms Trio, Madeleine Peyroux, Michel Camilo ‘Mano a Mano’ with Giovanni Hidalgo and Charles Flores, Buena Vista Social Club with Omara Portuondo, Michael Janisch-Aruan Ortiz Quintet with Greg Osby and Raynald Colom, and Ken Vandermark’s Made to Break.

The show, which is run by talented guitarist and interviewer Ivan Barasnevicius, has been on the air since 2008, with each weekly video also being uploaded for people to check out from across the globe.

Filmmaker Timothy Ro has released a new short film entitled The Conversationalist, with Guitar International’s Dr. Matthew Warnock contributing the score. According to MattWarnockGuitar.com, Timothy Ro contacted him after the piece was filmed about recording the score. “He wanted a jazzy feel to the music, kind of Ed Bickert meets Gene Bertoncini, I immediately agreed to do the project.”

Music fans are lining up to grab tickets for this year’s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (April 29 through May 8, 2011) with its feast of hot performers. The line-up this year features some of the top music legends in the world, including: Jeff Beck and Robert Plant and his Band of Joy. The festival has been a hallmark New Orleans event since it began in April 1970, when it featured the legendary Mahalia Jackson and inimitable Duke Ellington. Since that time, Jazzfest has drawn crowds with the likes of Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, Sarah Vaughan, Joni Mitchell, and a vast host of other music legends from all music genres.
