With a bit of luck, and some good timing, Guitar International was able to catch an exclusive and absolutely amazing performance by Australian guitarist Adam Miller. Playing a Cole Clark guitar, Miller’s performance was one of the best, if not the best, we witnessed at this year’s Summer NAMM. I’m not sure if there’s something in the water Down Under, but they seem to produce some of the best finger-style guitarists around, including the legendary Tommy Emmanuel.

Soulhouse Sound’s Karan Andrea and guitarist extraordinaire Ed Supple were at Summer NAMM to showcase their new video, Guitar Player Wanted Singing a Plus. Situated in a long row of rectangle-shaped booths, Soulhouse Sound stood out among its neighbors as the sweet riffs of Supple’s guitar floated over the crowd. If you’re a guitarist looking to become a better singer, or you want to learn to sing in a healthier manner then check out their DVD, it’s worth a watch.

As part of their continued support of musicians everywhere MusiCares was holding an auction in the lobby of Summer NAMM to raise fund for those people who were effected by the Nashville flood of 2010. With a wide range of very cool auction items, generously donated by many of the companies at the conference, we all hope that the auction was a success.

Guitar International is happy to feature an exclusive video demonstration of a handful of new and classic Electro-Harmonix effects pedals from this Summer’s NAMM show. It’s a rare event to hear and see someone who works closely with these pedals on a daily basis describe them, play through them and give their opinion of them so we want to give our thanks to EHX for taking the time to talk to us.

Since most of our coverage of the Summer NAMM show deals with guitars, guitarists and guitar accessories we wanted to diversify a bit by showcasing a string company who caught our attention, but that doesn’t make guitars specifically. After looking around and scoping out the offerings the company that drew us in with their well thought out display and quality instruments were the fine folks over at Folkcraft.

Custom paint jobs for guitars have been around for almost as long as the electric guitar itself. While some companies are trying to expand the art from by focusing on detail and the quality of the paint, others are experimenting with new mediums and materials. One of those companies is Hand Guitars, who are working with white clay and coconut to deliver amazingly cool custom guitar designs.
