Prog metal titans Dream Theater aren’t releasing their new album, A Dramatic Turn Of Events, until the 13th of this month, but Roadrunner Records is giving fans a chance to stream the entire album. Just click this link to get a sneak peek at the epicness that has come to be expected from Dream Theater.
On the 13th, A Dramatic Turn Of Events comes out in a few different formats. It will be released in the usual CD and digital download, but also a deluxe version. The deluxe version will include: A Dramatic Turn Of Events album, instrumentals of the entire album, The Spirit Carries On DVD (a 60 minute movie documenting Dream Theater’s drummer auditions), a double-LP set of A Dramatic Turn Of Events (180-gram vinyl in gatefold jacket), Dream Theater customized turntable slipmat, lithograph print of the album cover, and a digital download of A Dramatic Turn Of Events, all in a custom Dream Theater box. Also, 50 random winners will find a Dream Theater “Ticket For Life” that grants entry into future concerts.
A Dramatic Turn Of Events will be Dream Theater’s first sans-Mike Portnoy, who had drummed and written music in the band since its inception. In his place is Mike Mangini (Annihilator, Steve Vai, James LaBrie), who, by all accounts, has stepped up and filled Portnoy’s space admirably. Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess had this to say in a recent interview: “What’s really special about [Mike Mangini] is he’s not just a technician. Yes, he plays his parts perfectly, but he comes at everything as a total musician. Everything he does has real soul and a depth of feeling.”
A Dramatic Turn Of Events Track list:
“On The Backs Of Angels”
“Build Me Up, Break Me Down”
