Storm to Pass
Featured on Atreyu’s fifth studio album Congregation of the Damned, “Storm to Pass” may not be as recognizable as some of the band’s other singles, but it’s hard driving beats, ethereal arpeggios and screaming vocals are as strong as any song the band has released in recent years. The dual guitar lineup of Dan Jacobs and Travis Miguel are cookin’ on this single, with both players laying down some very cool dual leads, as well as accompaniment for each other’s respective guitar parts.
Featuring both fingerpicking and muted power chords, the rhythm track on “Storm to Pass” offers a little bit of everything for players looking to get this track under their fingers. There are also some cool flatpicked licks that intertwine the strummed and fingerpicked ideas, covering all the bases of right-hand technique. The guitar solo has a bit of a bluesy edge to it, as well as some good ole’ fashioned metal lines. It may not be blistering fast, but the solo has a few twists and turns that will take some time to work out. But, if the end result is getting this solo and these riffs in your vocabulary, then it’s definitely worth putting the time into learning it.
