AM Dandy

AM Dandy and the Elements are a cinematic and rock fusion band based in Los Angeles, who have impeccably incorporated a wide amount of genres into their production. Improvisation, skills, soulfulness, a big variety of melodic, harmonic and rhythmic textures. These are the main features of an album where complexity harmoniously coexists with the immediacy, the effectiveness and the beauty of phrasing and themes.

Alessandro Meynardi (AM Dandy) met Euan Leslie (drums) and Jack Schwenke (bass) in 2017 at Berklee College of Musicologists, and created with the support of Donghwan Seo and Riccardo Belletti on keyboards the AM Dandy Group, what eventually became AM Dandy and the Elements in 2019, replacing the two previous keyboardists with Riccardo Gresino and Jason Park.

Oracle is a 13 tracks concept album, nearly one hour of music, it is majestic, progressive, rock and jazzy at once, filled of latin atmospheres and presence of Avantgarde. A “place” where composition and improvisation are masterfully balanced and where AM dandy’s pathos is expressed at its best.

Despite the main matrix of this work is something in between rock and fusion, the flavors and stylistic shades are multiple. The album kicks in with “Mighty Mick”, a tribute to Mick Goodrick, featuring the italian drummer Giovanni Fortunato. A complex odd time tune that shows off the notable abilities of the musicians regarding technical skills, improvisation and communication. Constant characteristics verifiable along the whole album.

“Amor Na Praia”, “Mother Nature”, “Me, You and Florence” and “Follow Me” the latin oriented tracks, with hints from Santana to Chick Corea, while “Tree of Souls”, “Jungle Out There” and “Epiphany” pure Rock, from the Seventies to the modern and modal one.

Out of the remaining songs, “Dada” and the beautiful “Racing with the Wind” are a phenomenal proof of this ensemble’s ability in bonding high technical skills with astonishing musicality; “Tomorrow’s Another Day” and “Ultrazone Traveller” two compositions that incorporate rock sonorities to intense jazz fusion harmonies.

Stif Lo on drums (“Tree of Souls”, “Jungle Out There”, “Mother Nature” and “Epiphany”) and Thomas Antonio Debelian on hand percussions (“Amor Na Praia” and “Me, You and Florence”) are the other two guests of this majestic music journey.

For AM Dandy a perfect prosecution of his previous studio album “Secret Garden”, released in August 2019. A strongly suggested album for all the instrumental music lovers, with a strongly cinematic nature.
