Elliott Landy Launches Kickstarter for his new book Contacting the Band

Press Release

Hi. I have launched a Kickstarter campaign to finance my new book, “CONTACTING THE BAND”. It will feature selected contact sheets of the photos I took of THE BAND in the late Sixties for their first two albums, Music From Big Pink and The Band. It will allow fans of THE BAND a unique, behind-the-scenes look at the process and frame by frame progression of these landmark photo shoots, including personal sessions with the guys at home and on the road. Contact Sheets are photographic prints showing all 36 photos that are in each roll of film.

“Contacting THE BAND” will be the companion to my previous book, The Band Photographs, 1968-1969, published in 2015 with the support of a Kickstarter campaign which became its highest funded photography book at that time. It will be the same size (12 x 12 inches) with the same high-quality printing and heavyweight paper, and will fit beautifully on your bookshelf or coffee table. All copies sent to backers of this Kickstarter campaign will be First Edition copies, the printing of which I will personally oversee to assure its visual quality.

The contact sheets will be reproduced 25 to 100 percent larger than their actual size, making it much easier and far more pleasant to look at the photos. Some of the best images from each contact sheet will be printed full page, accompanied by descriptions and anecdotes.

There are some great new rewards offered in the Kickstarter campaign in addition to some of the same ones I offered for my previous BAND book. Prints of my most well liked images are available at a large discount. There are some copies of the first edition of The Band Photographs 1968-1969, book available, but they are running low and I don’t expect to be able to reprint it with the same quality—sad to say. I am offering some copies of it as Rewards in this Kickstarter Campaign.

I welcome your support and thank you.

Elliott
