OPUS explores the past four decades of a celebrated career, all while challenging himself and his music, along with making a positive statement about a new-found outlook on life. “With OPUS, I wanted to further my compositional skills as I think that the evolution of this part of my persona has labelled me more composer/guitarist than guitarist/composer”, says Di Meola. This album marks a new era in Di Meola’s life. “For the first time in my life, I have written music being happy, I’m in a wonderful relationship with my wife, I have a baby girl and a beautiful family that inspires me every day. I believe it shows in the music.”

Di Meola is a pioneer of blending world music and jazz. Over the past four decades, the living guitar legend has explored the rich influence of flamenco, tango, Middle Eastern, Brazilian, and African music. Di Meola’s record sales have made him the biggest selling artist in the genre of jazz fusion. During a 40-plus year career marked by hugely influential recordings and worldwide tours, Di Meola, who has won more guitar awards from the most prestigious guitar magazine “Guitar Player” than any other guitarist in history, has regenerated the jazz idiom three times over while dedicating himself to his art.
