T.J. Martell Foundation Announces Honorees for 38th Annual Honors Gala New York Honors Gala

Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research has announced the honorees for its 38th Annual Honors Gala on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 which will be held at the legendary Cipriani in New York. The honorees include Jennifer Breithaupt, SVP of Marketing, Brandon Steiner, CEO of Steiner Sports, John Sykes, President of Clear Channel Entertainment Enterprises,and Target Corporation. More celebrity performers and presenters will be announced throughout the summer.

Brandon Steiner is set to receive the Humanitarian of the Year Award, John Sykes will receive the Lifetime Music Industry Achievement Award, Jennifer Breithaupt will receive the Spirit of Music Award and the Spirit of Excellence Award will go to the Target Corporation. The annual New York Honors Gala brings together hundreds of music and entertainment leaders, top business executives and celebrities. It is one of the most sought-after tickets in the industry and is one of the most important events for the T.J. Martell Foundation, allowing the organization to continue its work in Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS research.

Jennifer Breithaupt is the Senior Vice President of Entertainment Marketing for Citi. She oversees a team of brand/marketing specialists focused on creating and executing high impact, non-traditional programs and special events that deliver exclusive access for Citi customers. Jennifer and her team have created and managed some of the most exciting, marketing and branded entertainment programs in the financial services industry including: Traveling Through Life Concert Series with Dave Matthews, Prince, Mary J Blige, Aerosmith, Tony Bennett and Christina Aguilera, Private Pass®, Citi’s award winning entertainment access program and also exclusive content and advertising partnerships with Beyonce, Jay Z and Justin Timberlake to name a few.  Additionally Breithaupt oversaw the strategic alliance between Citi and Live Nation.

Brandon Steiner is from Brooklyn, New York and is a professional sports marketer, speaker and author of two books. He is the founder and CEO of Steiner Sports which focuses on partnering athletes with businesses.  He began his career in the food and hospitality sector where he worked at Hyatt Hotels and managed the Hard Rock Café New York in the late 80s. It was there that he began to craft his foray into sports marketing.  As he got to know more and more athletes he realized that they needed representation for speaking engagements and corporate functions. He opened Steiner & Associates in 1987 which later became Steiner Sports. In 2003 he published his first book, The Business Playbook: Leadership Lessons From the World of Sports. In 2004, Steiner struck an unprecedented deal with the New York Yankees to provide fans authentic NY Yankees memorabilia and experiences. He struck similar deals with Notre Dame Football, Syracuse Athletics and Madison Square Garden. He is a regular on ESPN 1050 Radio and YES Network. He is also a regular sports commentator on CNN, CNBC, MSNBC and ESPN. In 2012, Steiner published his second book You Gotta Have Balls.  Brandon spends most of his limited free time to several charities.

John Sykes is the co-founder of MTV and VH1 Cable Networks. In 2011 he was named President, Entertainment Enterprises for Clear Channel Media Holdings. Sykes has also been President of VH1, President – North America Chrysalis Records, Executive Vice President of Artist Acquisitions at EMI Music Publishing, Chairman and CEO at Infinity Broadcasting Corporation (now CBS Radio) and President of New Network Development at MTV Networks (Viacom). He has held leadership roles at a number of major brands across the music, entertainment and media spectrum.  He also worked on the restructuring of MGM Studios as well as digital properties including Playlist.com and Shazam Mobile.  Prior to his time with Clear Channel, Chrysalis and MTV Networks, Sykes served as an agent for Creative Artists Agency. He serves as a Director of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and S.I. Newhouse School, Syracuse University.
