The Thirstbusters, the pop/rock band who has jumped on to the music scene with thousands of fans, critical acclaim and a debut for their new single “Bad Bad Girl” on the series “90210” and a a campaign launched by MTVU, has now received a prestigious Independent Music Award nomination in the Rock/Hard Rock category for their other fan favorite “Finders Keepers” off of the Caught Between album which was self-released. The young California band consists of Ryan Thomas [guitar], Zach Sorgen [vocals and keys], Chase Jackson [bass] and Forrest Mitchell [drums].
The Independent Music Awards [IMA] is the only international program that connects artists to new revenue opportunities and an audience of over 1 billion music fans.
The awards are produced by Music Resource Group, publisher of the industry database The Musician’s Atlas/Atlas Online and co-sponsored by eMusic, Jango, Musicati, AMI Entertainment, IMAtv, Dropcards, CMJ Music Marathon, NACA, The Planetary Group and others. The IMA’s leverage its acces to performance, promotion and distribution opportunities for the artists.
The program received submissions from more than 70 countries on 6 continents. Artists, managers and labels credit the IMAs for impacting their presence among talent buyers, programmers, media and fans. Past IMA winners and nominees include Cursive, Koko Taylor, Sugarcult, Holly Golightly, Ra-Ra Riot, The Cliks, Vienna Teng, fun., Phil Roy, State Radio, The Dollyrots and so many more. Past judges include Zooey Deschanel & M. Ward, Norah Jones, Peter Gabriel, Aimee Mann, Snoop Dog, Melissa Etheridge, Butch Walker, Lee Ritenour, Anthony DeCurtis (Rolling Stone), Melinda Newman (Los Angeles Times, Associated Press), Kevin Lyman (Vans Warped Tour), Tom Beujour (Revolver Magazine) and many others.

The Thirstbusters have quickly become one of the most-watched new bands of the year. They are featured as the Music Rising Artist of the Month which was co-founded by U2’s the Edge and legendary producer Bob Ezrin.
In their few years together have scored a deal with Disney who quickly snapped up their “So There” video for the Disney XD Channel, released their rendition of “Deck the Halls” from the TNT drama mystery of the same name, won First Place in the national College Battle of the Bands & Elfenworks songwriting competition for Social Justice with the IMA nominated single “Finders Keepers” and found themselves the subject of glowing Morton Report interview which noted that they were excited to share some music from the “compelling and haunting” band.
Other accolades include their two sophomore releases “Good Things” and “Never Let You Go” being featured on the soundtrack of “Smooch” [Hallmark Channel], “Tomorrow’s Saturday” and “Good Things” premiered exclusively on Cambio and the band was selected from thousands of Bandcamp music artists to be part of Bandcamp’s inaugural licensing deal. They just wrapped a major media tour in New York and Chicago.
