PRSMcLaughlinThe official 2013 Bonnaroo lineup has been announced, and PRS Artist John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension will be playing this year’s event.

The annual four-day extravaganza has become the leading festival experience for music lovers, and, with a career spanning more than forty years, McLaughlin remains one of the definitive electric guitar players of the time.

PRS is proud to support John and welcome him to the long list of legendary artists who have graced the Bonnaroo stage.

His most recent album Now Here This is assertive, rhythmically intricate, and texturally dense with everything from melodic staccato passages to pounding slow funk. John speaks fondly of the guitar he used on the recording – his PRS Private Stock McCarty ‘Violin’ – “Paul’s guitars are special. At my age, and after all the guitars I’ve played, you’ve really got to love your instrument. If you’re just neutral about it, that’s not good enough.”

McLaughlin was an architect of the jazz-rock era, having played major roles on Miles Davis’s landmark albums In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew; having worked with drummer Tony Williams and organist Larry Young in the power trio of a lifetime; and, of course, having made the timeless recordings Birds of Fire and The Inner Mounting Flame with his groundbreaking Mahavishnu Orchestra. At age 70, he is still at the top of his game. Bonnaroovians are sure to be entertained.
