Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees and one of rock’s most legendary bands, The Who, have announced a major North American tour, in which they will be playing one of their arguably most iconic albums, Quadrophenia, in its entirety, as well as a selection of other Who classics.
Known around the world for their revolutionary sound and energetic live performances, The Who will begin their tour on November 1, 2012, at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida.
Tickets for the tour are available to the general public, beginning Friday, July 27th at both AEGlive.com and Ticketmaster.com. VIP packages are available now.
On the tour, fans can expect to hear history in the making as the two remaining members of the band, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, perform the entire Quadrophenia album live, as well as helping close the show with some of the band’s most well known rock anthems, such as “Who Are You?”, “Baba O’Riley”, and “Won’t Get Fooled Again”.
Quadropheniais considered to be amongst the greatest Who albums ever to be released. The album focuses around a young man named Jimmy who suffers from a condition called Dissociative Personality Disorder, and has four completely different personalities.
The album follows Jimmy as he goes throughout the events of his life, and how his multiple personalities influence them. Between the album’s captivating storyline and simply amazing music, Quadrophenia quickly became a timeless part of rock and roll history.
The Who were described by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as “Prime contenders, in the minds of many, for the title of World’s Greatest Rock Band” – were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, their first year of eligibility.
Formed in London, England in 1964, The Who changed rock and roll history with their debut album, My Generation, with their signature vocal harmonies, standout songwriting, and virtually unparalleled musical talent.
The Who are one of the most influential bands from the ’60s and ’70s, with their music influencing some of the greatest rock groups in history, including Led Zeppelin, Queen, and U2.
With more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, 5 multi-platinum albums, and countless awards and accolades, the band has a reputation that is hard to beat.
