Costa Communications has let us know that Trevor Rabin, guitarist/songwriter/keyboardist extraordinaire and ex-member of Prog legends, Yes, will soon release Jacaranda (Varese Records), his first new solo album since 1989’s Can’t Look Away. The extremely versatile Rabin covers a wide range of styles on this new album, ranging from rock to jazz and even classical. Rabin plays all of the instruments himself with the exception of drums for all the tracks on Jacaranda, which will hit shelves on May 8th. For that job he brought in noted jazz/rock drummer Vinnie Colaiuta, who has played with Sting and Frank Zappa, longtime Rabin clan drummer Lou Molino III and Rabin’s son Ryan Rabin, who is a founding member of the popular indie rock band Grouplove. Trevor Rabin also has former Jeff Beck and Herbie Hancock bassist Tal Wilkenfeld playing on the track “Anerley Road.” Vocalist Liz Constintine is featured on the track “Rescue,” inspired by the film The Guardian.
