Heart Live and Kickin in Halifax

Nova Scotia experienced a bitter cold winter’s night on February 3, 2010, when Ann and Nancy Wilson showed up packing heat at the Metro Centre with the rest of their legendary rock band Heart. It was the group’s first landing in Halifax and the crowd was ready to rock.

Kicking off the show was Carmen Townsend, a red headed native of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, who offered up a gutsy rock ‘n blues set of that included songs from her recent CD debut, Waitin’and Seein’.

Heart was in good form on this cold East-Coast night, cranking out their classic hits, along with several tunes from their latest release, Red Velvet Car. Joining Ann and Nancy were Ben Smith (drums), Kristian Attard (bass), Debbie Shair (keyboards) and Craig Bartock (guitar). And the fans went crazy for them.

Ann Wilson’s vocals and her stage presence captivated the crowd, and her sibling Nancy held her ground on stage, whipping up the crowd with her full-press guitar work, while also sharing the vocal work.

The Canadian crowd demanded Heart in its full glory and they got it and more as the group kept their fans pumped with a series of encores. One of the encores the band delivered was their own rendition of a Led Zeppelin classic “What Is and What Should Never Be”, reflecting Heart’s love for Zep.

Heart pushes hard to give their fans their due and their performance in Halifax was a rockin’ night to remember – a great concert, proving that Heart is a group not to be missed.
