Dragonforce Through the Fire and Flames
Featuring the melodic vocals of ZP Theart and the double-guitar onslaught of Herman Li and Sam Totam, “Through the Fire and Flames” is a killer new metal song from English power band Dragonforce. With blast-beat drums, blistering guitar work and catchy lyrics, “Through the Fire and Flames” has all of the characteristics of a great Dragonforce song, and is one of the songs that helped launch the band to international stardom in the mid-2000s.
Learning this song is not the easiest task for any guitar player as Li and Totam bring their A game in both the rhythm and lead guitar parts. The stamina alone that you need to play the galloping rhythm-guitar part, before leaping into a death-defying solo, can only be built up by long hours spent in the practice room. Furthermore, the sound effects that Li conjers up with his whammy-bar during his section of the guitar solo will take some time to get exactly right. What makes this part even more amazing is that during the record process Li broke a string, but decided to just play through it and finished the song with only 5 strings.
But, don’t let the difficulty of the song deter you from facing it head on and getting it under your fingers. It’s a fun song to play, and though it’s challenging, if you put the time into learning it, “Though the Fire and Flames” will skyrocket your technique and dexterity to a new level.
