Rolling Stones Release the 3-D Classic Hits Grrr

By: William Clark

The Rolling Stones are easily one of the most influential and downright greatest classic rock bands to ever stun the ears of the world.

Since the early 1960’s, they have mesmerized listeners with Keith Richard’s tempestuous guitar playing style and the flamboyant frontman posing by lead vocalist Mick Jagger.

Their albums are now regarded timeless classics, and have inspired countless musicians and bands, such as Aerosmith, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, and AC/DC.

And now, The Rolling Stones have brought out a new release that should catch the attention of any fan, diehard or not.

“Grrr!” is the new compilation album from The Rolling Stones, which properly features the finest and deepest tracks from throughout the band’s 50 year music career. This new release is unlike any “Greatest Hits” album you may own, first off because it holds not one, not two, but three CDs jam packed with 50 of the best tunes off of their 24 studio albums.

Beginning with such songs as their Chuck Berry cover “Come On” off the band’s debut album, and stretching all the way to “Streets Of Love”, the first single off the band’s 2005 album, A Bigger Bang, they have definitely made sure to leave no era of their career out.

Of course they couldn’t leave out such hits as “Ruby Tuesday”, “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”, and “Sympathy For The Devil”, but at the same time the fact that they managed to fit in at least one song off of every album into this one release is pretty remarkable.

But still, if you’re one of those diehard fans who owns every single album The Rolling Stones have ever pushed out, is there any reason why you should even pay attention to this set? There are at least two.

The Rolling Stones recorded two new songs, “One More Shot” and “Doom and Gloom”, for this new release, that has enough power to attract to longtime fans and those of this new generation. Out of the two new tracks, I have to say I’ve definitely come to fall more in love with the electrifying “Doom and Gloom”, which boasts an incredibly hard rocking vibe and shows Mick Jagger going right back to his show-offy self.

“I had a dream last night I was piloting a plane/ all the passengers were drunk and insane/ I crash landed in a Louisiana swamp/ shot off a hoard of zombies but I come out on top”, Jagger proclaims to the listener in classic fashion, and even picks up the guitar to play the catchy opening riff to this modern day hit.

When you listen to these two energy-filled new tracks, you can’t even tell that the members of the Stones are all almost in their 70’s.

In fact, they sound so good, I really wish they would go back into the studio right now and push out an entire album while they’ve got this dynamite vibe still kicking!

I have to admit that “Grrr!” didn’t really spike my interest when I first heard about it, but after actually checking it out for myself it completely blew away my expectations. For any fan of The Rolling Stones, old or new, this is a must-have release, especially considering it’s two rocking new additions.
