Led Zeppelin Guitar Method Book Review

By: William Clark

There are thousands of guitar method books available on the market, which cover a wide variety of fingering and playing techniques.

For that beginner guitarist who’s interested in learning the guitar, choosing the wrong or too difficult guitar method book could discourage them completely from learning how to play a fantastic instrument.

But even for that experienced player who’s trying to go out and further their playing abilities, determining which book out there to choose can be overwhelming.

And with countless more method books arriving on the shelves, it can be very difficult for the student, intermediate, or even master guitarist to decide on which method book to choose, and even harder to know which book will be able to assist in furthering their guitar playing.

One book every guitarist should take a look at is one of Alfred Music Publishing’s latest releases, the Led Zeppelin Guitar Method.

The Led Zeppelin Guitar Method takes you fret-by-fret through the riffs and chord structuring of 26 of the band’s timeless classics, such as “Going To California,” “The Battle of Evermore,” “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” and “Stairway To Heaven.”

This guitar method would be the perfect guide for any guitarist, beginner or experienced, as the book shows the reader step-by-step through the basics of guitar playing, such as how to hold the guitar and how to read tablature, and quickly stands out by immediately running through songs such as “Boogie With Stu,” off of Physical Graffiti, and “Aura Lee,” which this book describes as being the song which inspired Led Zeppelin legend Jimmy Page to first pick up the guitar.

Another standout feature that comes along with the Led Zeppelin Guitar Method is the inclusion of an instructional CD, which has a play-along track for every song featured in the book, and makes practicing that much more enjoyable.

Not only that, but it also includes a special no-install computer program which allows you to decrease or increase the tempo of the included backing tracks, and is a great tool to help you master those challenging Led Zeppelin licks.

After personally using this guitar method, I believe any other guitar player will find this instructional CD to be an indispensable tool that will help enhance their guitar prowess.

Overall, the Led Zeppelin Guitar Method is a standout and well welcomed addition to the ever growing library of guitar method books out there, and would definitely be an excellent part to any guitarist’s personal library.
